about the translator
i've been studying japanese since about 2016, though i would hardly call myself proficient. my only formal training was two years of japanese courses in uni, and everything else has been self-study. resources such as renshuu have been a great help, but what's really gotten me this far in my studies are my interests.
it's sound horizon that made me interested in translating to begin with, it's my curiosity to understand the source material from a native speaker's lens that propelled me to studying, it's my love for my favorite characters and ships that engage me with japanese fan creations. i mention all this because i believe any reason to study a language is a good one! i may not be totally confident in my japanese skills yet, but i want to share the things that i love and so that's why i try to translate to the best of my ability.
regarding my translations themselves, i lean towards a localization style though i try to capture as much of the original text as possible. i do retain certain cultural aspects (such as honorifics and name order) since most people reading my translations are familiar with them, but i will adjust translations based on the audience. that said, i'm far from fluent, so please kindly correct me if you see any errors! thank you for reading my translations!
